The Sofie Cross Tote

This bag is cute and it's the perfect size for slipping an iPad or small laptop into, along with your wallet, and a book or two.

Pattern Inspiration

I love playing with colours and stitch combinations!

This tote was inspired by some combinations I was working with while creating a design for a Water Bottle Tote for my daughters.

I wanted to create something with visual texture and a hint of open weave. I wanted it to be big enough for day to day use, but small enough so as not to be cumbersome.

About this Pattern

This pattern calls for a medium worsted (#4) weight and a 5mm H hook.

I used Bernat Handicrafter 100% Cotton in Mod Omber.

The Sofie Cross Tote measures 12" from top to bottom (or 13" including the rows of crochet that support the handles), and 10.5" wide laid flat. The handles are 20" in length.

The bag is worked in the round from the bottom up, and is suitable for beginners.

All the stitches used are basic crochet stitches, though some require skipping stitches, and stitching back into the skipped stitches.
